Sometimes, life calls for a margarita. It may be Margarita Monday, or Taco Tuesday, or simply a long day at work. But when that time comes, all we want is the path of least resistance to a fresh marg in hand. But forget the store bought stuff. It’s often loaded with high-fructose corn syrup, and chances are it’s been sitting in the fridge longer than you’d like to admit.
That’s why we love having a batch of homemade marg mix on perpetual standby. Nothing beats a fresh mix made with real citrus, especially when the ingredient list is this simple. And since these zero proof margaritas are made with our Ritual Tequila Alternative, you can enjoy as many as you like without the dreaded tequila hangover. Use this recipe to stock up, and live every day like it’s Margarita Monday.
The recipe is as simple as 1, 2, 2...
1 part simple syrup
2 parts lime juice
2 parts orange juice
A good size for a starter batch is 1 cup simple syrup, 2 cups lime juice, 2 cups orange juice. That will yield around 16 margs, depending on your serving size.
You can find our simple syrup recipe here, but it couldn’t be easier. Bring equal parts water and sugar to a boil (in this case 1 cup of each) and stir until the sugar is dissolved. For a lower cal version, you can substitute agave. For the citrus, we recommend freshly squeezed, but in a pinch, store bought will do.
Using a strainer, squeeze fresh limes and oranges till you get the right amounts of juice, then mix everything together in a bottle or jug. Presto. A classic margarita mix that can be refrigerated up to two weeks... if it lasts that long.
To make the Ritual All Day Marg, simply mix 2 oz. Ritual Tequila Alternative with 2.5 oz. of your homemade mix. Make it frozen or on the rocks, and garnish with a lime slice or wedge. Repeat whenever the mood strikes. Salud!
